Swadhinata Doito Badminton Tournament (Independence Double Badminton Tournament was held on the premises of Panna Cinema Hall in district town on March 4 and 5 with financial support of Diamond World and implementation of Chuadanga Poura Chhatraleague wing organisation of Bangladesh Awamileague on the eve of observance of Independence Day. The tournament was inaugurated by Riajul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police (Admin.) on March 4. A total of 12 teams of the district took part in the tournament.
Final game was arranged on March 5 at the evening. Amader Khela Ghor and Jony Smrity Club contested in the final game. Jony Smrity Club won in the tournament as champion.
Trophy distribution function was staged on March 5 at about 10:15 pm. The function was presided over by Dilip Kumar Agarwala, Managing Director of Diamond World while RM Foyzur Rahman, Superintendent of Police (SP) attended as chief guest. Mahfuzur Rahman Monju, Chairman of Zela Parishad, Chuadanga addressed as special guest.
Nazim Uddin Al Azad, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations), Anisur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police, Rajib Hasan Kochi, President of Chuadanga Press Club, Nazmul Hoque Swapan, Executive Editor of Dainik Somoyer Samikoron, Jannatul Awlia Nishi, Editor of Daily Akash Khobor, Sazol Ahmed, Assistant Director of National Consumers Right Protection Department and Abv. Abdul Malek of Chuadanga District Judge Court were present at the function.
Chief guest RM Foyzur Rahman, SP and other guests distributed trophies and medals including Cheques of Bank among the champion, first runners up and second runners up.
The function was conducted by Hossain Malik, Correspondent of UNB and Nagorik TV. Alamgir Kabir Shiplu, Executive Officer of Tara Devi Foundation coordinated the tournament.
It may be mentioned here, this tournament has been featured in observance of Independence Day, which is the first on the recent.
