Thousands of people learned how to protect life and property from natural calamities in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali district. On Monday afternoon, the villagers saw this survival strategy during the disaster awareness field exercise workshop at Hajipur Secondary School ground in Nilganj, which is at risk of disaster in Kalapara. Good Neighbors Japan organized this disaster drills at MOFA DRR Project.
Every year natural calamities destroy the wealth of thousands of people in Kalapara. Every disaster since Sidor has resulted in loss of life. Therefore, thousands of people from different villages of Kalapara participated in this exercise to protect life and property. If there is no disaster preparedness, how a village arranged like a picture can be destroyed, loss of life, this issue is highlighted in the exercise.
Masahiko Yoda, the project manager of Good Good Neighbors, a Japanese citizen, watched the disaster relief exercise in Bangladesh. Project Coordinator Deepak Kumar Das was the chief guest at the event presided over by Nilganj UP Chairman Babul Mia. Assistant Director of Kalapara CPP Achad Uz Jazzaman, James Rajib Biswas and others were special guests.
This exercise is organized with the aim of reducing the loss of life and property along with individual family and social preparedness before, during and after the disaster along with increasing the awareness of the people in this disaster season.
