People from different districts of the country demanded quick correction of the personal information of their passports in accordance with the information of their national identity card and necessary other documents.
The sufferers made the demand forming a human chain in front of the National Press Club on Monday.
They have been trying to get corrections in their passports for the last few years but they have not got any solution of this jeopardy yet. The complications are on the rise as the urgent needs of the service seekers are being hampered.
Speakers at the human chain said we got passports from different regional offices of the country. The passport holder’s name, father's name, mother’s name, or address was wrong in the passport. The information in the passport does not match with the national identity card and educational certificate. As a result, we are not getting the opportunity to go abroad.
They further said that they became tired of visiting the regional passport offices and head office in Agargaon to solve this problem. They did not find any solution anywhere.
They kept running to and fro, from the regional office to the head office and from the head office to the regional office. Many have claimed that no solution was provided to them for over 2 years in any of the offices.
One of the service seekers, Abul Hossain, said, “I got my passport through a broker. There I got into trouble with my name. For two years, there was no solution to this problem. I have been going door to door to get my name correctly in my passport. My brother sent me a visa from Kuwait. I can't go because the name of the passport does not match with the national identity card.”
Another youth said that they have been trying to get the service for a long time. “Without a valid passport, we can’t go abroad. It has become a serious problem now,” he added.
Around 40 victims from different districts of the country were present in the human chain.
They tried to draw the attention of the Prime Minister, Home Minister, Expatriate Minister, Foreign Minister, and the Director General of the Immigration and Passport Office.
