The third phase of 6th Upazila Parishad polls in Manikganj Sadar and Saturia upazila of the district was held peacefully amid small presence of voters on Wednesday.
In Manikganj Sadar, organising secretary of Manikganj district unit of Awami League Sudeb Kumar Shaha has elected as Chairman of Manikganj Sadar upazila parishad. The electoral symbol was 'Motor Cycle' and secured 34,000 votes. His nearest rival, the Sadar unit of Awami League and the two-time chairman of incumbent Chairman Mohammed Israfil Hossain with 'Cap-Pirich' symbol secured 31,559 votes. Abdul Latif Tota (Tubewell) was elected Vice Chairman by getting 34,363 votes for the post of Male Vice Chairman.
His nearest rival, Sadiqul Islam, got 23,047 votes in Soha (lock) symbol.
Sumi Khanam was elected as the female vice chairman by getting 36,157 votes with the football symbol. His nearest rival, Salma Akhtar (Kals), got 34,063 votes.
In Saturia, Mohammed Shajahan Ali Saju, organising secretary of the central committee of the Jatio Samajtantrik Dol (JSD), has elected as Chairman of Saturia upazila Parish. The electoral symbol was 'Motor Cycle' and secured 22,832 votes.
His nearest rival, Amjad Hossain Lal Mia, with 'Cap-Pirich' symbol, secured 15,361 votes.
Md. Sohail Rana was elected Vice Chairman by getting 20, 425 votes for the post of Male Vice Chairman. His nearest rival, Abul Bashar, got 7, 268 votes with Tala symbol.
On the other hand, Munni Akhter was elected as the female vice chairman by getting 42,158 votes with the butterfly symbol. His nearest rival, Shiuly Akhtar, got 13,511 votes for the football symbol.
