Successful bone marrow transplant (BMT) of lymphoma patient in Ctg

Evercare Hospital Chittagong has successfully completed autologous stem cell transplantation in the port city of Chittagong.  

A 49-year-old male patient with T cell lymphoma (PTCL) underwent bone marrow transplant (BMT) by Dr.  Abu Zafar Mohammad Saleh and his team.  The patient has to stay in the hospital for 12 days to complete this process.  Currently the patient is doing well and he and his family expressed their gratitude to all concerned.

 Evercare Hospital Chittagong Haematology and BMT Center Senior Consultant and Coordinator Dr. Abu Zafar Mohammad Saleh said, “Lymphoma is a common blood cancer where 40 percent of patients require bone marrow transplant.  This Bone Marrow Transplant has been started in Evercare Hospital Chittagong since last January. Stem cell transplantation is a revolutionary process in cancer treatment.  

In this procedure, stem cells are harvested from the patient's body and given high-dose chemotherapy, and the harvested stem cells are then transplanted.  Allogeneic BMT will start in Chittagong very soon.”
