The Jagannath University (JnU) administration made an attempt on Sunday to move some important files from the university Registrar's office by a microbus. Though the microbus somehow managed to leave the campus, the students stopped it in front of the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court and brought it back to the university campus.
The files seized by the students belong to the Registrar's office. Among the files, one was opened and it was of Nasir Uddin Ahmed, former assistant professor of the English Department.
He was sacked from the university by the then vice-chancellor Prof Mizanur Rahman, accusing him of irregularities in research.
Not only the files of Nasiruddin Ahmed, but all the suspicious files were in this microbus.
Several attempts were made to contact the university Registrar Aynul Islam but he did not respond.
Meanwhile, the students had been protesting in front of the administration building since morning demanding the resignation of the VC, proctorial body and the registrar.
