Students of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) on Tuesday blocked the roads in Turag thana area after transport workers have carried out attacks on their buses and injured 7-8 fellow students.
The protesting students said that a varsity bus carrying students was on way to BGMEA permanent campus near Mirpur Beribadh from Uttara House Building area, in the morning. A pickup van smashed off the bus' looking glass while overtaking. Students onboard got down and took compensation from the pickup driver.
Being infuriated over the matter, transport workers carried out attack with sharp weapons on the buses of the same varsity. They reportedly injured some 7-8 students and vandalized 3-4 buses.
Afterwards, aggrieved students took to the streets with eight-point demands including justice over the incident and ensuring safety for students.
Contacted, Turag Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Nurul Muktakim told Banglanews that the matter will be solved very soon through discussion with the protesters.
