Students, political activists freed on bail in Chattogram

A total of 700 leaders and activists of BNP-Jamaat, including students, arrested in the cases of killings during the recent anti-discrimination student movement have been released on bail. 

Among them, three people in the port city have been granted bail by the Chattogram Chief Metropolitan Court and 13 people in the district have been granted bail by the Chittagong Metropolitan Court.

They were released from Chattogram Central Jail on Tuesday night.

Chattogram Senior Jail Superintendent Muhammad Manjur Hossain said 700 prisoners had been released after the jail authorities received the bail orders from the court.

Earlier on August 2, the court granted bail to 16 HSC examinees arrested in the cases of clashes and vandalism in the anti-discrimination student movement.
