Students are guarding the temples and houses of the minority Hindu community in different parts of the country.
Most of the people are happy with their initiative amid the ongoing political turmoil.
Minority community leaders, including Advocate Rana Dasgupta, general secretary of Bangladesh Hindu-Bouddha-Christian Oikya Parishad, termed the initiative very positive.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post, Rana Dasgupta said, "Students of schools, colleges, universities and even madrassas are guarding temples, houses and shops of Hindus in different parts of the country.”
“We are taking it very positively. Our Anti-discrimination Student Movement requested the students to provide security in the minority community areas until the new government comes, he said.
Rana Dasgupta also said that they are trying to collect information on the attacks on temples or places of worship taking place in the country.
Meanwhile, the Anti-discrimination Student Movement has given instructions to form rescue teams in different parts of the country.
Coordinator AB Zubair called on the district coordinators to form rescue team for each district as soon as possible and create a messenger group with this team and add him to that group.
The work of the rescue team will be to maintain peaceful environment of the respective districts, to go there quickly and take necessary measures if there is news of oppression against someone, to ensure safety of the people and property of the minority people and to cooperate in maintaining law and order in the district.
Nikhil Chandra, a minority community youth, said, “Muslim brothers are guarding our temples all night. We all want to live together. I don't want any religious conflict.
Such initiative to guard the houses and temples of the minority community is praiseworthy, he added.
