Students of Savar Adhar Chandra Primary School were sit-in protest blocking Thana road in Savar demanding to be admitted to its high school section before the school's main entrance, since last Monday which continues till yesterday, next to Savar model police station in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital.
A total of 61 students and their parents took part in the demonstration claiming that their children were passed the primary section from the school but the school’s high section authority now refused to admit the students did not get the chance to admit to the lottery method. “No matter school authority admitting students through lottery method, but why the method also applied on school’s regular students”, Bilkis Begum, one guardian said. Adding that school authority, however, assured to admit their students earlier, but now they are saying they cannot admit the students, causes uncertainty grips student’s future now.
Md. Ishak Ali, Assistant Head Teacher of Savar Adhar Chandra Govt High School said the high school does not relate with primary section anyway; it’s totally separate, even Adhar Chandra Govt High School is an EMIS listed individual educational institute, so there is no scope to deny government order and to consider these two separate institutions as the same.
“We already hung a notice to clarify the issue, and lottery, the method has been adapted following government order since last year considering the pandemic situation, so there is no scope to admit the students, violating lottery rules”, he added.
