Students will no longer need to register for the coronavirus vaccine. From now on, students can be vaccinated only if they carry their ID.
Education Minister Dipu Moni made the remark at a briefing at the secretariat on Monday.
“We are not considering to close the educational institutions. They will run the way they are active now on a limited scale. Those who have received one dose of vaccine by January 12 will come to class, the rest will take part in classes online and submit assignments,” said the minister.
If everyone is given at least one dose, then they all will be able to take part in physical classes together, she added.
At the press conference, the education minister said that the total number of students aged 12-18 in the country is over 1.17 crore. The first dose was given to 44 lakh students and the second dose was given to more than 4.19 lakh.
Dipu Moni said, “Thirty-five per cent students within that the age bracket have already been brought under the vaccination wing. The target is to complete the first dose of all students within this month.”
The minister further said that vaccination campaigns are scheduled to be completed in 397 upazilas of the country by January 15, in 3 upazilas by January 17, in 56 upazilas by January 20, in 15 upazilas by January 22, in 35 upazilas by January 25 and in 11 upazilas by January 31.
Regarding the SSC and HSC examinations of 2022, Dipu Moni said that the exams will be conducted under a short syllabus.
“However, whether this will happen in all cases or not will depend on the situation,” said Dipu Moni.
