Students of Government Titumir College have blocked road and rail tracks in Dhaka’s Mohakhali area demanding their college to be transformed into a university.
The train communication between Dhaka and parts of the country came to a halt on Monday morning while numerous vehicles on both sides of the road were stranded due to the blockade, causing immense suffering of commuters.
Witnesses said the students of the college first put up blockade on Mohakhali road around 11:30am and then moved to the rail track, snapping the rail communication.
Joynul Abedin, Officer-in-Charge of Dhaka Railway Police Station, said the rail communication remained suspended since the students took position on the tracks.
