The agitating students staged a protest procession and blocked Banglabandha-Dhaka highway in Panchagarh for four hours on Saturday to realise the nine-point demand declared by the anti-discrimination student movement.

The students proceeded with a small-scale protest march from in front of the judge's court in the morning. Students from both sides of the highway joined the protest procession. The protest march ended at Shaheed Minar square in the district town.

Later, thousands of students, teachers and parents started a rally blocking Banglabandha-Dhaka highway amid rain. They blocked the highway and held the rally until 4:30pm. They started making various announcements about their position there. At that time, seeing the policemen, the students started chanting 'fake', 'fake'.

They also chanted various anti-government slogans. Hundreds of vehicles were stuck on both sides due to the sudden highway blockade. Pedestrians also suffered a lot. However, the agitating students helped the emergency vehicles, including ambulances, leave the area. Many people were seen crossing the Karatoa river by boat in case of emergency.

General secretary of Bangladesh Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) and former lawmaker freedom fighter Nazmul Haque Pradhan, teachers Azharul Islam Jewel and Rabiul Islam and many others gave speeches expressing solidarity in the rally.
