Rangpur Medical College has officially banned all forms of student politics on its campus and in its dormitories. This decision was announced in a circular signed by the college principal, Professor Dr. Shah Md. Sarwar Jahan, on Tuesday.
The decision to ban student politics was made during an academic council meeting held on Monday afternoon. The circular states that the ban applies to all political activities by students, teachers, and staff. This includes political groups such as Chhatra League, Chhatra Dal, Chhatra Samaj, Student Union, Chhatra Shibir, and any other political parties. The ban covers all areas of the college, including the campus, Dr. Mukta dormitory, Dr. Pinnu Hostel, Helipad Hostel, and Shaheed Mahbub Hossain Hostel. The college has warned that action will be taken against anyone who disobeys this order.
In addition to the ban on student politics, the academic council also made several other decisions. They expressed their deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent anti-discrimination student movement. The council also promised proper medical treatment for all students injured during the recent protests and extended their condolences to them.
The council emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy and safe environment in the college’s dormitories and hostels. They assured that all necessary measures would be taken to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
This ban on student politics at Rangpur Medical College follows similar bans at Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur and other universities, colleges, and medical institutions across the country. These bans have been implemented in response to ongoing unrest and violence related to student politics in various educational institutions.
