A group of youths from outside engaged in a clash with the students of Begumganj Agricultural Training Institute in Noakhali over a trivial incident. At least 8 people including 6 students of different batches were left injured.
No written complaint was lodged at the police station till 4:30 pm on Sunday. However, the institute authorities said that they would lodge a written complaint with the police in case of assault, beating and injury on the students. The injured are Agricultural Training Institute students Nahid Alam, Nazim Uddin, Ashraful and 6 people from both sides including Riyadh. All of them except Nahid, a 5th class student, have been released with first aid.
According to local sources, people from both sides come and go through the Agricultural Training Institute. As a result, there is not much security inside the institute. Residential students can easily move people inside and outside. Almost all the time, there was an argument between the students and the outsiders. There is also a helipad in the area in front of the training center and along the Chaumuhani intersection. Where local youth and training students play sports in the afternoon. Last Friday, some students of the institute had an argument with some local youths over the game at the helipad. The matter was later resolved by the locals. As a result of this incident, around 9:30 pm on Saturday, some students were having tea at a shop near the crossroads of their educational institution. At least 6 people were injured on both sides.
According to multiple sources, the free movement of locals through the institution and the occasional drop out of the institution led to the formation of friendly relations with many local youths. As a result of that relationship, they can easily go inside and hang out with the students. Due to their relationship, groupings are created among themselves and fights are happening almost all the time. The institute authorities have to take careful action in this regard.
Begumganj Agricultural Training Institute's chief trainer. Mira Rani Das said that when the students went to a shop at the crossroads for tea on Saturday night, they were attacked by foreign youths.
During this time, they beat and injured 6 students of different parts of my institution. Among the injured, Nahid Alam is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
He added that the organization does not have adequate security and manpower. Due to the movement of villagers through the organization, the security system has become more relaxed. We will lodge a written complaint with the police in case of attack on students.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Begumganj Model Police Station Mir Jahedul Haque Rony said, "We have not received any written complaint from the Agricultural Training Institute." Those involved in the incident must be brought under the law.
