The temperature in the capital has dropped by 2-degree Celsius on Monday. Following this, it is feared that the country may experience a strong cold wave around December 20.
Meteorologist of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, Abul Kalam, told Bangladesh Post, “The weather may be dry across the country. Temperatures are likely to remain unchanged at night. There is no possibility of a cold wave at this moment. However, a strong snap is feared from the third week of this month.”
“There was a strong wave of cold wind in Dhaka on Sunday afternoon. The temperature has dropped by 2-degree Celsius from Sunday to Monday. On Monday, the temperature in Dhaka was 18.2 degree Celsius. On Monday, it was 16.2 degree Celsius,” he added.
Monday’s temperature in Tentulia was 10.4 degree Celsius compared to the previous day’s 9.9 degree Celsius, he further said.
The meteorologist further said on Sunday that the weather is stable at present. Although there was rain previously due to the cyclone, no more rain is expected with the winter settling itself.
“At present the lowest temperature is around 10 degrees in Tetulia and it could go further down and a strong cold wave could be upon us,” he said.
He further informed that the temperature in Dhaka will not decrease for the time being. However, even if the temperature drops in Dhaka, it is unlikely to fall below 10 degrees.
“Although it may be close to 10 degrees Celsius, it is likely to fall below the mark after December 20. The country may experience an eventual increase in cold within the next few days,” said the meteorologist.
