The rate of throwing stones at moving trains has increased in recent times. Such heinous acts injure people including passengers, train guards and employees. Many people have lost eyes and many others were injured critically due to stone throwing at trains.
To solve the problem, areas prone to stone throwing have already been identified by the authorities concerned. The five identified areas of the four eastern districts are: Pahartali in Chattogram, Barbakund in Sitakunda, Fazilpur-Kalidaha in Feni, and Narsingdi, Jinardi and Ghorashal in Narsingdi district.
Government must now make sure that these areas are secured so that no more incidents of stone throwing from these areas occur. Social awareness is also needed to be created as it is the most important point in halting such heinous crimes.
In most cases, it has been found that derailed youths and children engage in these kinds of vandalism acts. Therefore, parents and guardians of these children and youths should take responsibility so that that their children do not take part in any act of vandalism. So, parents and guardians have to make their children aware of the consequences of their erroneous acts and try to keep them busy in good, productive deeds.
