Bangladesh Navy has seized a large amount of electronic goods and other goods stolen from Matarbari Power Project during a raid on a house in Matarbari of Moheshkhali Upazila in Cox's Bazar.
A press release issued by the Public Relations Branch of Navy on Monday evening has confirmed the information.
It has mentioned that a smuggling ring has recently stolen valuables from the Matarbari Power Project. The smugglers store these goods at Abu Saleh's house at Mogdeil village.
On Monday, a navy team raided Abu Saleh's house at Mogdeil village in Matarbari following a tip-off. During the raid, the house was searched and a large amount of stolen goods of Matarbari Power Plant worth over Tk 1 crore were seized. The recovered valuables include generators, refrigerators, pumps, batteries, fire extinguishers, various computer parts, printers, water pipes, a significant number of fans, geysers, revolving chairs, submersible pumps, portable bed frames, tins, angle bars and transformers.
A gang of smugglers has stolen the valuables from Matarbari Power Plant at various times and kept at Abu Saleh's house. The seized goods have been handed over to Moheshkhali Police Station for further action, the press release said.
It also said that in order to implement the instructions of the current government, the Bangladesh Navy is conducting regular patrols and operations to control the overall law and order situation, including the recovery of illegal weapons in the responsible areas of the Bangladesh Navy.
