The country's premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), on Wednesday witnessed an upward trend as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.
After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 10.95 points or 0.21 per cent to settle at 5,280.47. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 4.33 points to finish at 1,886.19 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 2.43 points to close at 1,153.97.
Daily trade turnover increased to Taka 4,705.88 million on the country's premier bourse which was Taka 4,326.96 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 397 issues traded, 171 advanced, 163 declined and 63 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
TECHNODRUG dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by AIL, LOVELLO, SEAPEARL and SQURPHARMA.
NRBBANK was the day's top gainer, rising 7.63 per cent, while EIL was the worst loser, shedding 2.99 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with a downward trend with its major CASPI 48.26 points down at 15,093.13.
Of the issues traded, 123 declined, 60 advanced and 16 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded 43.71 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Taka 13.63 crore.
