After witnessing a downward trend in the two sessions, the country's premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Thursday rebounded as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 23.43 points or 0.45 per cent to settle at 5,251.96. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 4.90 points to finish at 1,874.84 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 4.74 points to close at 1,143.70.
Gainers took a strong lead over the losers, as out of 389 issues traded, 213 advanced, 126 declined and 50 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Daily trade turnover increased to Tk 3,744.82 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Tk 3,066.75 million at the previous session of the week.
GHCL was the day’s top gainer, rising 9.79 per cent, while BATASHOE was the worst loser, shedding 2.99 per cent.
But, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day with the CSE All-Share Price Index – CASPI –losing 12.37 points to settle at 15,072.20 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX losing 7 points to close at 9,067.92.
Of the issues traded, 104 declined, 70 advanced and 27 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city’s bourse traded 24.19 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Tk 4.56 crore.
