The Stock Exchanges on Wednesday witnessed upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.
The DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 43.57 points or 0.85 per cent to settle at 5161.38. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 22.25 points to finish at 1844.13 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 13.25 points to close at 1,121.31.
At the DSE, out of the day's 392 securities, prices of 232 securities closed higher against 96 losing issues.
The day's trade value at the DSE decreased to Taka 2464.41 million which was Taka 4231.42 million at the previous session of the week.
Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend with its major CASPI 61.23 points up at 14, 608.47.
At the CSE, 145 issues were traded. Of those, 53 closed higher and 71 closed lower when 7.95 lakh shares worth about Taka 6.88 crore changed hands.
