MP from Cox’s Bazar-1 constituency Alhaj Zafar Alam has said that Chakaria and Pekua of Cox’s Bazar will be shaped into modern towns through various development projects. He said this while inaugurating three development projects in Chakria on Sunday.
Zafar Alam said as per the promises he made to the locals during his election campaign to develop the upazilas he is working for the development of the area under the guidelines of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. When the development projects are done the appearance of the upazilas will be quite different. He urged the locals to cooperate with him for the sake of progress at the time, he added.
The MP inaugurated three different development projects worth of Tk 6 crore 82 lakh in Chakaria upazila on the same day. The projects include the construction of a road and a bridge at the cost of Tk 3 crore 52 lakh under the funding of LGED and the erection of an academic building of Shaharbil BMS High School for Tk 3 crore 30 lakh at the funding of Education Engineering Department.
Executive Engineer of Cox’s Bazar LGED Md. Anisur Rahman said, the MP inaugurated the construction of a carpeted road at Sharbil area and a bridge at Palakata Machghat area and laid the foundation stone of the 4 storied academic building at Shaharbil BMS High School in the upazila as the chief guest.
Among others Chakaria Municipal Mayor Alamgir Chowdhury, Member of District AL unit Aminur Rashid, Engineer of Chakaria upazila Kamol Kanti Pal, Chiringa UP Chairman Jashim Uddin, Saharbil UP Chairman and President of the School Committee Mohsin Babul were present at the time.
The MP also announced that the town of Chakaria will be turned into a traffic-free megacity. To ensure the safety of the lives of the seven-lakh people of the two upazilas, security barricades will be created by constructing dams. A plan is also underway to make Chakaria-Pekua an economic zone for the economic prosperity of the people.
All kinds of development works will be done to transform the communication system in the rural areas in the future, he added.
