Bangladesh Society of Microbiology and Stamford University–Bangladesh’s Microbiology department on Sunday celebrated 4th International Microorganism Day.
The event, held at Stamford University Auditorium, is organised to encourage the young generation about micro-organisms and microbial science by understanding the importance of micro-biology in human welfare.
Stamford university vice-chancellor professor Dr Moniruzzaman was present as chief guest while BSM vice-president Monirul Alam, Stamford university pro-VC Dr Yunus Mia, dean of the faculty of science Dr Ahmed Kamruzzaman Majumdar, and Registrar Abdul Matin were special guests at the event. Stamford university assistant professor Mrityunjoy Acharya and BRAC university senior lecturer Akash Ahmed spoke on Microbiology at the programme.
Secondary, higher secondary and graduate level students from various educational institutions of the country participated at the event. They were shown microbiology laboratory at one stage of the programme.
Also, quiz competition is organised for secondary and higher secondary students and three minute thesis competition for graduate students. Prominent microbiological scientists from different universities of the country exchanged their views with students in a question and answer session.
