SSF Bill passed in JS

A time-befitting step indeed

We appreciate the Special Security Force (SSF) Bill, 2021 passed in the Jatiya Sangsad on Tuesday aiming to bring the family members of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, alongside the president and the prime minister of the country, under life-long security coverage of the force.

The Bill has been passed at an appropriate time as the anti-liberation forces in association with some elements at home and abroad are still plotting to carry out like 1975 killings, August 21 grenade attack and coups to hinder the country’s prosperity under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter. It needs to be mentioned that the enemies of the '71 and '75 are the colluders of the grisly  attack on August 21 and these enemies had tried to assassinate Bangabandhu daughter and Prime minister Sheikh Hasina for 19 times. Those who plotted the August 15 massacre in 1975 and August 21 in 2004 are still active as they have not yet been annihilated from this country.

We hope the new SSF Bill will leave no scope

to take further attempt to carry out attack on

Bangabandhu’s family members

The family members of Bangabandhu will get lifelong foolproof state security everywhere in the country, including their residences and free utility services as the Bill has finally been passed in the Jatiya Sangsad. Each of the five children of Hasina and Rehana will now be entitled to get security of SSF and secure houses along with their mothers, according to the provisions of the Bill.

Bangabandhu and most of his family members were brutally killed by some disgruntled army men on the fateful night of August 15, 1975 and this carnage is touted as the ugliest chapter of the nation's history. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the eldest daughter of Bangabandhu, escaped the planned assassination with her sister Sheikh Rehana as they were staying overseas then.

It was an evil design to foil the victory of independence and the ideology for which Bangladesh was liberated in 1971 and those who could not accept Bangladesh’s victory brutally assassinated Bangabandhu.

The previous Awami League government had enacted  almost a similar bill in June, 2001, allocating Ganabhaban, official residence of the prime minister, to Sheikh Hasina and a Dhanmondi house to her sister Sheikh Rehana. But the BNP-Jamaat led alliance government repealed the act in 2001 after assuming power through the October 1, 2001, parliamentary polls.

Country’s people always recall with profound respect the architect of country’s independence, the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who made supreme sacrifices in the war of Liberation and continue asking the government to provide foolproof security to his two daughters Sheikh Hasina and Rehana along with their children. We hope the new SSF Bill will leave no scope to take further attempt to carry out attack on Bangabandhu’s family members.
