A total of 2,227,113 candidates,1 lakh 79 thousand 334 more than last year, will take part in this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations, scheduled to begin November 14 across the country.
Last year, the total number of candidates in SSC and equivalent examinations was 2,047,779.
The information was given by Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni at a press conference held at the meeting room of the Ministry of Education on Wednesday.
According to the Ministry of Education, 1,800,998 students will take part in the SSC examinations from 9 general boards. In addition, 301,887 Dakhil and 124,228 vocational students will take part from Madrasa and Technical Education Board respectively.
Stating that the concerned people including the educational institutions have been instructed to maintain social distancing protocol, the minister said, “We have to maintain the distance of at least three feet. We are making arrangements according to the hygiene rules.”
The practical examination for SSC and Dakhil will end on November 28. SSC and equivalent results will be published within thirty days of the end of the examination. As such, the results of SSC and equivalent examinations of 2021 will be published in December, this year.
The minister also said the unspent portion of the money collected from the candidates for filling up the forms will be refunded as the expenses have been reduced for the less number of subjects in the examinations.
Meanwhile, she said the SSC and equivalent examinations of 2022 will not begin from the scheduled time, February 1 next year.
”This year's SSC examination will end on November 23. In that case, it will not be possible to conduct another SSC exam on February 1, next year. Because, the candidates have to attend classes before the exams,” she said.
All the coaching centers in the country will be closed from November 8 to November 25 to conduct this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations without facing any untoward situation including question leak.
Dipu Moni made the remarks to highlight the overall preparation for the SSC exams.
According to the Board of Education sources, the examinations will be conducted ensuring strict security and hygiene. It has been decided to send the question papers wrapped in foil paper to the centers to prevent the leaking of question papers. Besides, the parents have been asked not to crowd outside the centers.
The examinations will be conducted according to the short syllabus. The examinees will answer the multiple choice questions at first and then a creative / compositional (theoretical) examination will be held.
Test time is set to be one hour and 30 minutes. There will be no break between MCQ and creative question tests.
The officer in charge of the test center can only use the feature phone (without smartphone). Besides, no one else can use phone during the test.
