Sports journo Ajay Barua passes away

Ajay Barua, sports editor of Dainik Sangbad, passed away at a London hospital on Friday morning. He was 71.

Family sources said he was admitted to the hospital with cold related complications two weeks ago while covering the ICC Cricket World Cup.

He was shifted to ICU two days ago as his health condition deteriorated. He passed away at 2:00 pm on Friday (local time).

He left behind wife, two daughters, a son and a host of well wishers and relatives to mourn his death.

Ajay Barua, a Freedom Fighter, was the member of Jatiya Press Club, Dhaka Reporters Unity, Bangladesh Sports Journalists Forum and Chattogram Journalists Forum.

He started his career in 1974 as a sports reporter for Dainik Sangbad. He went on to win ‘Blue Award’ from the Dhaka University. 

Ajay Barua was born on September 1 in 1947 at Hathazari upazila in Chattogram.
