In a notable event on Monday, Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan and Bangladesh stalwart opener Tamim Iqbal visited the BCB headquarters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. The day began with Tamim's arrival, followed shortly by Asif. After formal introductions, Asif, accompanied by Tamim, toured the BCB President's Box. They then moved from the building to the field, with BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury joining them.
Once on the field, the new advisor walked from the dressing room area to the indoor facilities, with former captain Habibul Bashar Sumon also present. Asif Mahmud then visited the media room before heading to the academy building.
The visit of Asif Mahmud, the interim government's Youth and Sports Advisor, to the BCB had the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla staff busy from the morning. There was also a significant media presence. Amidst the political changes in the country, the previously quiet Home of Cricket suddenly seemed lively. During this time, Tamim Iqbal was also seen at the BCB.
Yesterday around 12:30 PM, the former captain arrived at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla. Shortly after, Asif Mahmud arrived. Following the political shift in the country, the sports sector has been in a state of stagnation. With BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon and most directors in hiding, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been practically leaderless. Asif Mahmud, taking on the role of Sports Advisor in the interim government, is attempting to resolve the deadlock. As part of this effort, he visited the BCB today.
Meanwhile, Tamim's sudden visit to the BCB was not for practice but for a meeting. The Tiger opener has been away from the national team for a long time. Although fit, he has kept himself away from cricket for personal reasons. Chief Selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu recently mentioned that he is ready to discuss bringing the former captain back into the team.
