In a bid to reignite the passion for sports among the youth of Bangladesh, the youth and sports ministry has announced a series of initiatives to revitalize the country's sports scene.

Speaking after a meeting with sports editors at the National Sports Council (NSC) auditorium on Monday, advisor Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan highlighted the decline in sports participation, particularly in rural areas. He emphasized the ministry's commitment to address this issue and foster a renewed interest in sports across the nation.

The advisor engaged in a productive dialogue with senior sports journalists, discussing various recommendations and concerns raised by the media. Participants highlighted the prevalence of corruption and irregularities within certain sports federations.

In response, Bhuiyan acknowledged the issues raised and outlined the ministry's plans to tackle these challenges. He announced the formation of a search committee to rebuild the national federations and associations, ensuring transparency and accountability.

To further strengthen the integrity of sports governance, the ministry has instructed the relevant authorities to depoliticize divisional, district, and upazila sports associations. By including sports-loving individuals in these positions, the ministry aims to create a more inclusive and fair environment for sports development.

The advisor also emphasized the importance of objective reporting by sports journalists. He urged media professionals to avoid sensationalism and focus on presenting accurate and unbiased information.

Bhuiyan highlighted the potential negative impact of inaccurate reporting on athletes' mental well-being.

By taking these proactive steps, the youth and sports ministry hopes to inspire a new generation of athletes and revive the vibrant sports culture that once thrived in Bangladesh.
