Sporshia cast as Nargis in upcoming Nazrul biopic

A biopic on Bangladesh’s national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam is being made in West Bengal, India. The film will showcase the life of the rebel poet, with Kolkata actor Kinjal Nanda playing the lead role of Kazi Nazrul Islam. The biopic is directed by Abdul Alim and promises to highlight important moments from the poet’s life.

Bangladeshi model and actress Orchita Sporshia will take on the role of Nazrul’s first wife, Nargis. Sporshia recently confirmed her involvement with the project. She stated, “I’ve completed the initial discussion with the director of the movie. The official announcement will come later. I’m not allowed to reveal anything about the movie right now.” 

The biopic will also feature Indian actress Ishaa Saha, who will portray Pramila Devi, Nazrul’s second wife. Other well-known Tollywood actors, including Kharaj Mukhopadhyay as Fazlul Haque and Kanchana Maitra as Birjasundari Devi, will play special roles, adding depth to the story.

Joy Sarkar will be in charge of the music direction, bringing his expertise to capture the essence of Nazrul’s era. The film is being produced by JB Production, which is known for its focus on cultural and historical narratives.

The biopic is highly anticipated by fans of Nazrul, as it aims to bring the life and struggles of the legendary poet to the big screen.
