Locals and family have demanded moving of trader Sharif Madbor murder case to the speedy trial tribunal and exemplary punishment to the killers.
The demands came from a human chain in front of Narayanganj court premises on Monday.
Protesters, who all are from slain Sharif’s Adarshanagar village of Fatulla upazila, alleged that a local criminal gang killed the trader as he continued to resist their wrongdoings.
Addressed the protest, Rahima Begum, mother of Sharif, said five accused who are now out of jail on bail threaten her family of dire consequence if the lawsuit is not withdrawn.
On April 1 this year, a group of miscreants swept on Sharif with sharp weapon in front of his residence at Adarshanagar village in broad daylight at around 10.30am.
Following the incident, Alal Madbor, father of the victim, filed a murder case with Fatulla Police Station.
Police pressed charges against 25 to the court on June 30. But the family said they are unhappy over the charge sheet and will move no confidence motion to the court.
