The people of Narail district town had witnessed golden paddy heads nodding their head in the breeze at the fallen land of Police Lines. Superintendent of Police (SP) of Narail Md. Jashim Uddin set up an example through growing paddy on land lying fallow. The began harvesting of the golden paddy.
A total of 20 decimals of fallen land in Police Lines of Narail were brought under cultivation of Boro paddy three months ago. SP Md. Jashim Uddin cultivated the paddy on the fallen land.
After plantation of the Boro plants, he was nursing the growing plants in the field. When the paddy look at golden colour, the SP began harvesting on May 14.
Additional SP Md. Sarfuddin, Police Super’s son Faijum Salehin Samir, who is a student of class ten in Jashore English School, and daughter Samia Mubasshira Roz, a class six student of Narail Government Girls High School, some students of Police Lines School and policemen are helping him in harvesting.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post, Md. Jashim Uddin PPM said that 20 decimals of fallen land in the Police Lines had been uncultivated for 30 years. “We brought the land under cultivation and planted Boro paddy on February 22,” he said.
The SP further said that earlier in the winter, he had cultivated various varieties of vegetables at the fallen land. ‘My son, daughter and others helped me in the vegetable and Boro paddy cultivation. I inspired them in farming.”
Besides, about 500 mango tree sapling were planted on about eight bighas of fallen land on the premises of Police Lines.
Md. Jashim Uddin PPM joined as Superintendent of Police of Narail on February 28 in 2018. Since then, he has been continuing development work, including agricultural based work, in Narail.
At least 13 thousand of native fish fries were released last year in three ponds at Traffic Police office ground, Police Lines ground and SP Office ground. The fish fries were released through the SP. He also established fish aquarium near his government residence.
Deputy Director of Narail Department of Agricultural Extention (DAE) Chinmoy Roy said, “We welcome the Police Super’s agricultural-based work. His work will inspire others.”
