Renowned Indian film actor Soumitra Chatterjee has been admitted to hospital with coronavirus.
On Tuesday (October 6) morning, his coronavirus test report came back positive. He was later admitted to Bellevue Hospital. Doctors said his condition was stable at the moment.
According to reports, the veteran actor had been ill for the past few days. The hospital was called from Soumitra Chatterjee's house on Monday night. Then his bed was arranged. He was taken to the hospital between 10 and 11 am Indian time Tuesday.
According to hospital sources, Soumitra Chatterjee's condition is stable. He is being monitored by doctors and a medical team is being formed for him.
Soumitra Chatterjee made his acting debut in 1959 with Oscar-winning director Satyajit Ray's 'Apur Sansar'. Since then, he has acted in 14 of Ray's 34 movies. He is also well known as a poet and for his recitation.
