Sonamasjid Land Customs station failed to achieve the target of revenue earning during the first quarter of the fiscal year 2020-2021.

According to Sona Masjid Customs sources, the target of revenue earning during the first four months of the current fiscal was Taka 154 crore 88 lakh 13 thousand but the revenue earning during the period is Taka 112 crore 63 lakh 44 thousand which is Taka 42 crore 24 lakh 69 thousand less than that of the target of revenue earning of the period.

While enquiring about the cause of such deficit of revenue earning, authorities of Sona Masjid Customs, Importers and Exporters Group, C&F Agents, Labourers Co-ordination Committee and Panama Leaders informed the import from India has been declined due to lack of coordination among the concerned organisations that is why no target of revenue earning has been achieved.

However, Sona Masjid LC sources further informed, in the month of October the revenue earning of the port surpassed Taka seven crore 62 lakh 36 thousand than that of the target. In October the revenue earning target was Taka 37 crore 51 lakh 62 thousand whereas the actual realisation of revenue was Taka 45 crore 3 lakh 98 thousand.

Saifur Rahman, Assistant Commissioner of Sona Masjid LC informed, the revenue earning would further increase during the November. If the importers of fruit use Sona masjid rather than other ports, the revenue earning of the port will increase further.

Toufiqul Islam Babu, General Secretary of Sona Masjid Importers-Exporters group informed, if the government revenue is realised the same way in Sona Majid like all those land port of the country, the earning of revenue at the port will be several times more than the target.
