Terming the Chairman of Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) as corrupt and harmful for the insurance industry, the executives and employees of Sonali Life Insurance Company on Sunday demanded immediate removal of the Chairman from the regulatory body.
They also demanded immediate withdrawal of the Administrator, appointed by the IDRA months back to the Sonali Life, reinstate of the Sonali Life board of directors and withdrawal of cases, lodged by IDRA against the Directors of Sonali Life.
They allege that instead of doing wellbeing to the company, the Administrator has done everything possible to destroy the emerging and fastest growing company.
They formally handed over a set of demands including resignation of IDRA Chairman and removal of Administrator staging demonstration at the IDRA office premises at the city's Dilkusha area.
Sonali Life Additional Managing Director, Rafiqul Islam said the irrational and groundless appointment of an Administrator who is totally ignorant about the insurance industry and a series of wrong decisions taken by him eventually put the fastest growing insurance company into severe crisis.
“We believe this strongly that whatever the Administrator is doing here, is directly or indirectly with the guidance of the IDRA Chairman, whereas IDRA, as the regulator, is responsible to save any insurance company if they are in trouble”,
