44 cops killed in uprising

Some news outlets, individuals spreading lies on number says CA press wing

Some news outlets and some people are deliberately spreading lies and misinformation on the number of policemen killed during the July-August student-led uprising, the Chief Adviser's Press Wing said in a statement on Friday.

“We have noticed that some news outlets and also some people have been deliberately spreading lies and misinformation on the number of policemen who were killed during the July-August student-led uprising,” the statement read.

The Police Headquarters has published a list of police officials killed during the uprising. This list showed that 44 police personnel were killed during the student-led movement. The police department meticulously maintains the list of officers or constables who are injured or killed in any protests or any acts of violence, the statement said. Anyone claiming more police were killed in the uprising is requested to provide evidences, said the statement.

The names of the police personnel are--- inspectors Rashedul Islam, Abdur Razzak and Masud Parvez Bhuiyan, sub-inspectors Sujan Chandra Dey, Khagendra Chandra Sarker, Rezaul Kairm, Mamunur Rashid Sarker, Basir Uddin, Roisuddin Khan, Tahsenuzzaman, Pranbesh Kumar Biswas, Nazmul Hussain, Anisur Rahman Molla and Sontosh Chowdhury, assistant sub-inspectors Sanjoy Kumar Das, Firoz Hossain, Sohel Rana, Raju Ahmed, Obaidur Rahman, Rafiqul Islam, Mohammad Muktadir, ATSI Ali Hossain Chowdhury and Nayek Gias Uddin, constables Abdul Majid, Rezaul Karim, Mahfuzur Rahman, Shahidul Alam, Abu Hasnat Rony, Mir Montaz Ali, Suman Kumar Gharami, Abdul Malek, Mainuddin Liton, Mohammad Ibrahim, Abdul Salek, Hafizul Islam, Rabiul Alam Shah, Humayun Kabir, Ariful Azam, Reazul Islam, Shahin Uddin, Hanif Ali, Ershad Ali, Sujan Mia and Khalilur Rahman.
