Solar lamps shining on hills of SUST

Published : 10 Dec 2022 08:16 PM

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology University (SUST) authorities are continuing the process of lighting in 'Gazikalo Tila' area and surrounding areas. The students said that because there was no lighting system in this dune called New Zealand, incidents like snatching used to happen before. Now with the provision of lamps, no such incidents like bad news are happening. They now have security guards on duty there at night and during the day.

After visiting several dunes on Saturday afternoon, it can be seen that a total of seven solar powered lamps have been installed on several dunes in 'Gazikalo Tila'   area so far. However, several engineers said that this program will continue.

A student of the EEE department of the university named Emtiaz said that we can save a lot by using renewable energy, solar lamps are a great example of that. Electricity can be saved due to the installation of solar lamps in these places of the campus.

Umme Salma Baisakhi, a student of the university said that solar lamps do not give very good light like electric lamps. However, it is a good system from a cost-effectiveness point of view. However, strict security measures along with the lights will make it possible to deal with any situation.

The executive engineer of the university's electricity department Nazim Uddin said that Sirajunnessa Hall is adjacent to the  'Gazikalo Tila'   area. It will take us a lot of time to provide electricity and lights in those areas including the hills. And it is a long-term process including what kind of lamp is needed in that area, how many will be needed, and its maintenance.

Therefore, solar lights are being installed there to provide light in that area as soon as possible. He also said that so far a total of 7 solar lamps have been installed in these hills of the campus. Apart from this, 11 more solar lamps have been installed at different places in the campus. But this work will continue.
