Speakers in a meeting in Khulna on Wednesday stressed the need for massive social awareness to combat dengue prevalence.
There is no alternative to make people aware in controlling mosquito-borne diseases including dengue, they said in a meeting on dengue prevention at the GIZ conference room of Khulna City Corporation (KCC).
Speakers said, there is no scope to take the current dengue situation lightly. The outbreak of the dengue can be controlled if everyone performs duty properly.
Director of the local government department Md Tabibur Rahman presided over the meeting while KCC’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and senior officials of the corporation and health department were present.
Tabibur said that the dengue
situation has turned alarming
in Khulna, so, we should
work together to combat the
situation.
Chief garbage management officer of KCC Md Anisur Rahman said that the ward-based crash programme was running to control dengue.
Under this programme, KCC workers are spraying larvicide in the morning and adulticide in the afternoon in each ward every day, he said adding that cleaning of wastes is also going in full swing regularly.
Awareness campaign is continuing in the populated areas like Dolkhola and Raipara as those areas were identified as dengue hotspots, Rahman said.
