Sonali Otit Club (SOC) is an organization of former footballers. A new committee was formed through a meeting last night. The president of that committee is Mosabber Hossain and General Secretary Iqbal Ghaffar.
A few months ago this year, a committee was formed with former star footballers Abdul Ghaffar and Ilyas Hossain as president-general secretary. In Sonali Otit Club, no voting committee is ever formed. The Election Commission announces the committee on the basis of interest and seniority. There was pent-up anger on the part of Gaffer and Ilyas' committee.
Legends and superstars like Golam Sarwar Tipu, Badal Roy, Sheikh Aslam, Satyajit Das Rupu, Khurshid Alam Babul, Hasanuzzaman Khan Bablu have held the post of General Secretary-President of Sonali Aasti Club established in 1980. General Secretary Iqbal Ghaffar, who was appointed yesterday, has been involved in almost every activity of the club for a long time, but is not famous as a footballer. The 31-member committee announced yesterday has Sheikh Aslam as senior vice-president, Kazi Anwar as vice-president, Chaid Hasan Kanan, Imtiaz Ahmed Nakeeb as sports editor, Alfaz Ahmed as member and many others.
