Indian Women's team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana said on Friday that they are hoping to get a long term head coach ahead but added that they are not losing their sleep over it.
According to media reports Amol Mazumdar is expected to be the long-term head coach of the India women's team but as BCCI is still taking the time they have appointed Nooshin Al Khadeer on an interim basis for the ongoing home series against Bangladesh.
Following the removal of Ramesh Powar from the post of head coach BCCI made Hrishikesh Kanitkar the interim coach of the squad ahead of the T20 Women's World Cup.
"Well, I'm sure that BCCI has been hunting for a coach and I'm sure we're gonna have a long-term coach soon. And definitely, for us as a team, it's not that important that what happens around us," Mandhana told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Friday.
"I think for us, how we play our brand of cricket is what is important. And I'm sure, BCCI is definitely thinking of having a long-term coach till the World Cup. So we'll have to just wait for this series to finish and see what happens next," she said.
"But I'm sure that it's not a very big thing in terms of players because what we want is to play the best brand of cricket we can. And I think all the coaching staff who's come has been really helpful.
Sometimes it's an advantage as well because new coaching staff comes with new tips and new positives. So, if I take it very positively, I will say that it's also a positive thing and definitely a long-term coach is coming soon," she added.
