A daylong workshop aimed at enhancing skills and awareness among professional drivers was held in Jhenaidah on Sunday.
The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) organised the workshop at the Jhenaidah District Shilpakala Academy auditorium.
The event was chaired by Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Salma Salim while Nazneen Wares, Joint Secretary of the Roads and Highway Division, was present as the chief guest and inaugurated the training.
Speaking as the chief guest, Joint Secretary Nazneen Wares emphasised the government's efforts to train both professional and non-professional drivers to ensure adherence to traffic rules.
This, she explained, would contribute to reducing road accidents, traffic jams, and the overall hardship faced by people.
Wares highlighted the high demand for skilled drivers both domestically and internationally, noting that a well-trained driver always has employment opportunities.
She urged drivers to prioritise safety, emphasising the vision of a "Smart Bangladesh" free from accidents, as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The training conducted by BRTA Jhenaidah circle office inspector Sabuj Hossain, and Khulna Divisional Director of BRTA Ziaur Rahman. Among the special guests were Atiar Rahman, Assistant Director of BRTA in Jhenaidah circle (engineering), Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer (UHFPO) Dr Mithila Islam, and District Traffic Inspector Golam Morshed. Madud Rana, the President of Jhenaidah District Truck Workers Union, also delivered his speech.
