The two-day 12th literary conference and Alaol Literary Award distribution ceremony ended at Kabi Jasimuddin Hall in Faridpur on Saturday evening. Faridpur Shaittya and Sanskrity Unnayan Sangstha, a local literary and cultural organisation, arranged the event.
Former LGRD Minister Engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, MP, chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on LGRD and Cooperatives Ministry, attended the concluding ceremony as the chief guest.
President of Faridpur Shaittya and Sanskrity Unnayan Sangstha Abul Faez Shahnawaj presided over the event, while Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Faridpur Atul Sarker and Faridpur Police Super Md. Alimuzzaman spoke at the event as special guests.
The inaugural function was also attended among others by Poet Nurul Huda, Faridpur Zilla Parishad chairman Lokman Hossain Mridha, Faridpur Police Super Md. Alimuzzaman, Director of Secondary and Higher secondary Education Prof. Abdul Mannan Sarkar and Faridpur Sadar Upazilla Parishad chairman Abdur Razzak Molla. A cultural activist Asma Akhtar Mukta conducted the function.
The Alaol Award was distributed among the recipients at the concluding ceremony. Six poets and writers received the awards. They are Altaf Hossain, Wasi Ahmed, Sukumar Bishwas, Asad Chowdhury, Rafiqur Rashid and Harishankar Jaldas.
The literary conference was inaugurated by Director General of Bangla Academy Poet Habibulla Shirajee at the same venue on Friday. The inaugural function was attended, among others, by Poet Nurul Huda, Chairman of Faridpur Zilla Parishad Lokman Hossain Mridha, Faridpur Police Super Md. Alimuzzaman, Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Prof Abdul Mannan Sarkar and chairman of Faridpur Sadar Upazilla Parishad Abdur Razzak Molla.
After the inaugural session, the poetry reading session was held with Poet Nurul Huda, president of Bangladesh Writers’ Club, in the chair.
