In recognition of their exceptional academic achievements, six students from various departments of Dhaka University (DU) have been honured with the prestigious 'Suruchi Bala Pal Trust Fund Scholarship.' The scholarships were conferred by Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal during a ceremony held at the VC’s Lounge of the university on March 19, 2024.
Presided over by DU Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, the event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof. Dr. AKM Mahbub Hasan, and DUTA President Prof. Dr. Md. Nizamul Hoque Buiyan. Dr. Taposh Chandra Pal, the generous donor of the Trust Fund, also graced the occasion with his inspirational address. Dr. Taposh Chandra Pal, a banker by profession, established this trust in 2023 in his mother's name.
In his speech, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal emphasized the importance of preparing oneself as skilled human resources to meet both familial and national expectations. He urged the recipients to honor their parents and glean valuable lessons from the philanthropic endeavors of the trust fund donor, emphasizing the significance of contributing to societal advancement.
The deserving recipients of the scholarship are Mahiul Islam (Management), Al Arafah (Economics), Babul Mia (Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology), Nayon Chandra Bormon and Sadia Sharmin Choity (Pharmacy), and Rabina Akter Roshni (Electrical and Electronic Engineering).
This initiative not only recognizes academic excellence but also perpetuates the cherished memories of the donor's mother, underscoring the spirit of philanthropy within the DU community.
