A mobile court initiated by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) punished six brokers arrested from Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) premises on Tuesday afternoon, reports BSS.
“An operational team of the crime prevention special company of RAB-13 conducted a sudden raid on RMCH premises and caught the brokers red-handed while cheating innocent patients in an organised way,” a release said on Wednesday.
The arrested brokers are: Md Zakaria of Nilphamari district, Debashish of Rangpur city, Rashidul Islam of Kurigram district, Md. Rubel of Rangpur district and Idris Ali and Md. Parvez of Rangpur city.
Later, the elite force produced the arrested brokers before the mobile court of Executive Magistrate Md. Mehedi Hassan in the afternoon. After hearing on the charges, the mobile court fined Zakaria Tk 1,000, in default to suffer more seven-day in jail. Debashish and Rashidul Tk 10,000, or in default, to suffer 15-daymore in jail each.
On payment of their respective fined money, the mobile court released brokers Zakaria, Debashish and Rashidul and cautioned them strongly of refraining from such crimes in future.
The mobile court sentenced brokers Rubel, Idris Ali and Parvez to ten-day jail term without labour and sent them to the Rangpur Central Jail, the release added.
