‘Sisimpur’ wins Int’l Telly Awards for sign language

Celebrations abound as Bangladesh's beloved children's show "Sisimpur" adds another feather to its cap by clinching the prestigious International Telly Awards. The show, renowned for its dedication to early childhood development, garnered accolades for introducing sign language and the new character Julia in its latest episodes.

"Sisimpur" has been on a winning streak, previously bagging awards at Kidscreen and Anthem, and now adding the International Telly Awards to its list of achievements. This recognition underscores the show's commitment to fostering positive change in society through innovative storytelling and inclusivity.

Mohammad Shah Alam, the managing director of Sesame Workshop Bangladesh, expressed immense joy at the news, emphasizing the significance of the Telly Award and its impact on their future endeavors. He credited the success to the collaborative efforts of production partners, broadcast partners, writers, artists, puppeteers, crew, and the children of Bangladesh.

Sesame Workshop Bangladesh has been diligently implementing the "Sisimpur" program for 19 years, aiming to make pre-primary education and early childhood development engaging and enjoyable. Alam believes that this achievement is a collective triumph and a testament to the dedication and support of everyone involved.

The Telly Awards, presented since 1979, recognize outstanding television programs from around the world that contribute to positive societal change. This year, "Sisimpur" stood out among approximately 13,000 submissions from over 50 countries, highlighting its global impact and relevance.

Notable recipients of the Telly Awards include renowned organizations such as Newsweek, Al Jazeera, Disney, National Geographic, NASA Television, and more. "Sisimpur" joins this esteemed list, reaffirming its position as a pioneer in children's education and entertainment.

Since its inception in 2005, "Sisimpur" has been dedicated to empowering children to become more resilient and compassionate. Supported by USAID, the show continues to inspire and educate young minds, making a significant impact on early child development in Bangladesh.
