A nine year old girl and her younger brother drowned in a pond at Pashchim Seota area of Manikganj municipality. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Fatema, 9, and her brother Shahadat, 5, both son and daughter of Abdus Sobhan.
Azad Hossain, councilor of Manikganj municipality, confirmed the matter. He said taht the two siblings drowned while taking bath in the pond adjacent to their house at about 2.30 pm. Later, local people recovered their bodies from the pond, said Azad Hossain.
