According to local sources, firefighters led by Abul Kalam Azad, station officer of Kuliarchar Fire Service, rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after a 30-minute effort with the help of locals.

But by then all the goods and shops of Sohag Mia's hotel and Saidur Rahman's crockery shop were burnt to ashes. Besides, a cloth shop including Bhangari shop of Tajul Islam was severely damaged while removing the goods.
