The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) has recently welcomed six new directors to its various departments. This decision comes as part of a restructuring effort by the government, which also involves the cancellation of the contracts for four previous directors. On Monday, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification regarding these appointments.
The newly appointed directors are Mustafa Zaman, who will oversee the Fine Arts Department; Faiz Zahir, appointed as the head of the Drama and Film Department; Nava Mehjabeen Rahman, taking charge of the Music, Dance, and Recitation Department; Tanzim Wahab, leading the Research and Publication Department; Abdul Halim Chanchal, responsible for the Production Department; and AFM Nurur Rahman, who will head the Training Department. Each of these directors has been appointed for a term of two years, effective from their respective joining dates. It is essential for them to sever any existing working relationships with other institutions and organizations to take up their new roles.
The appointments come following the cancellation of contracts for the previous directors: Syeda Mahbuba Karim Mini from the Fine Arts Department, Kazi Aftab Uddin Hablu from the Music, Dance, and Recitation Department, Jyotika Pal Jyoti from the Research and Publication Department, and Sohaila Afsana Iko from the Production Department. This transition aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the academy, which plays a vital role in promoting and preserving Bangladesh's rich cultural heritage. The new directors are expected to bring fresh perspectives and energy to their respective departments, contributing to the academy's mission of fostering artistic talent and cultural development in the country.
