State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that Sheikh Russel could have been a pioneer in the normal growth of children. “He always followed Bangabandhu. If he were alive today, maybe we would have a role model. But the killers did not even exempt the ten-year-old child.

On 15 August 1975, a group of conspirators assassinated the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family. At the same time they killed the trend of development in Bangladesh,”he said.

The state minister made the remark while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organized by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division on the occasion of “Sheikh Russel Day-2021” at Petrobangla on Monday.

He said that the dynamic leadership and timely decision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has enriched Bangladesh and continues to do so.

“Our positive image in the world is getting brighter. Now we have to remain united. Any kind of anarchy is not desirable,” he added.

The state minister further said that energy security needs to be ensured to continue the high growth of Bangladesh's economy.

He said, “Practical steps must be taken now to address the turbulent state of the energy sector around the world. It is essential to speed up the search and extraction of resources in the country.”

The event was presided over by Md Anisur Rahman, Senior Secretary of Energy and Mineral Resources.

ABM Azad, Chairman of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation and ABM Abdul Fattah, Chairman of Petrobangla also spoke during the event, among others.
