Sheikh Kamal business incubation centres to be established in every university

In a recent IT workshop and laptop distribution program organized by the Bangladesh Chhatra League at the Dhaka University Student-Teacher Center (TSC) auditorium, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, made several significant announcements. 

Highlighting the government’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, the state minister revealed plans to establish one Sheikh Kamal Business Incubation Center in each university across the country. 

These centers aim to facilitate the connection between aspiring entrepreneurs and potential investors.

Additionally, Palak announced the establishment of a Sheikh Russell Digital Lab equipped with high-speed internet facilities in each residential hall of Dhaka University. The provision of advanced digital infrastructure in these labs aims to enhance the technological capabilities of students.

To further support innovation in educational institutions, an innovation fund worth Tk 1 crore was announced for Smart Campus projects. Universities will have the opportunity to compete and present their proposals for developing green, clean, and safe campuses. The top-ranking institution will be awarded Tk 1 crore, while 50 other selected universities will receive Tk 10 lakh each from the ICT Department.

Addressing the workshop, Palak emphasized the importance of empowering women in entrepreneurship and announced the ICT Department's collaboration with the Bangladesh Chhatra League's "Her Creation" program. Under this initiative, the department aims to create 25,000 smart women entrepreneurs through the Har Pawar project. The state minister urged women leaders and students of the Dhaka University Chhatra League to seize this opportunity and contribute to the development of women in entrepreneurship.

Palak underscored the significance of developing smart campuses and called upon the leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Chhatra League to transform Dhaka University into a model smart campus. He envisioned a future smart Bangladesh built on digital connectivity, promoting smart citizens, a smart economy, and a smart society.

Bangladesh Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain, General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan, and General Secretary of Chhatra League Dhaka University Branch, Md. Tanveer Hasan Saikat, expressed their views during the program. The event was presided over by Chhatra League Dhaka University Branch President Mazharul Kabir Shayan.

Concluding the program, the state minister distributed laptops gifted by Sajeeb Wazed Joy, emphasizing the importance of technological resources for the students. These laptops were presented to the Chhatra League president and general secretary in each of the 18 residential halls of Dhaka University, encouraging the students to embrace their roles as future smart citizens and leaders.

The initiatives announced by the ICT State Minister reflect the government's dedication to nurturing entrepreneurship, fostering innovation, and creating a technologically advanced educational environment throughout the country.
