Despite the Home Ministry's directive to deposit firearms and ammunition by September 3, at least 55 firearms have not been deposited in Narayanganj district.

Of them, former member of the parliament of Awami League in Narayanganj-4 constituency AKM Shamim Osman and his family members own at least eight firearms, which they have not submitted yet.

Besides Shamim Osman, his brother Salim Osman, son Imtinan Osman Ayan and brother-in-law Tanveer Ahmed Titu, have not surrendered their arms.

Among these, after the formation of the Awami League government in 2009, a total of 321 arms licenses have been issued for four consecutive periods till August 5, 2024.

The district administration has suspended 191 arms licenses issued to civilians as per the decision of the interim government.

The arms include 102 shotguns and guns, 67 pistols, 14 rifles and 8 revolvers.
